Abstract
The history of human resources development in Nigerian universities and polytechnics is
reviewed. Factors influencing human resources development are discussed. Pedagogical
training for new engineering teachers, the institution of staff exchange schemes between
universities and industry and intensification of industrial training of staff to improve their
competencies are recommended
