Abstract
The widespread of sporting activities has laid emphasis to the importance of sports promotions through advertisement. Sports promoted via the internet also serves as an avenue for consumers to advertise their goods and services, thereby generating funds for consumers to advertise their goods and services, thereby generating funds for sports industries. The study investigated advertisement and online promotion as predictors of sports development in Nigeria. Two hypotheses were postulated and tested. The descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. Two thousand four hundred and forty-one (2441) respondents were selected through stratified , simple random, and purposive sampling techniques. The finding of this study revealed that advertisement and on-line promotional strategies predicts sports development in Nigeria. Based on the finding, it is recommended that sports managers should be oriented towards maximization of opportunities to generate funds for their porganisations through advertisement and also sports managers should partner with corporate bodies that have to do with information technology to promote their organisations.
