dc.description.abstractCharacter modification and development of positive attitude among Youth has driven desire to look in wards in order to harness potentials of youth in Lagos State. This cross sectional Study examined attitude of youths toward application of natural potentials such as transforming human energy into productive use through sport participation by Youths. 100 youths selected through purposive sampling technique out of 300 identified youths comprised the study sample. Research instrument consist a multi-staged combination of: observation of display of sports skills using Occupational Therapy Technique, Self Identification Questionnaire, and Focus Group Discussions. Variables under study include: Family support, Literacy level and sport activity. Data analysis is with descriptive statistics of percentages for stage 1 (Introductory) and Stage II (Observation), Stage III (practice) and Stage IV (Evaluation). t- test was applied to compare outcomes of observation. Results revealed participants learning ability and skill acquisition capacity was 72%, ability to recall and display skills 82% while ability to concentrate to perform specific skills was rated 68%. In conclusion, street youth can be groomed to become active athletes. Also participants have untapped potentials that can be channeled through planned training programme. The study recommended that: Lagos State Sports Council should establish a sports academy and conscript street youth for adequate training. Food companies should identify with youth. Advocate for financial support to promote training.en_US
