dc.description.abstract | The title of this inaugural lecture as advertised is" Carbohydrates, Water and Proteins: The Life Sustainers". In elementary science, carbohydrates are generally described, as energy-giving foods while proteins are the bodybuilders. Water forms a significant percentage of the body weight of adulls and moreso of babies. It is not surprising that the elementary definitions of carbohydrates and proteins are given with reference to foods; everybody, even a child, knows what food is, so, these definitions are readiy understood. However, carbohydrates and proteins are abundant in other forms, which are not foods. | en_US |
