Abstract
Sports all over the world has become a veritable venture and a vehicle that advances the status, well-being, liberty, unity-value and political development of a nation that knows how to manage it properly most especially amongst the youths. In achieving this, schools and collegiate sports become a moving vehicle to drive these fundamental parallels, beneficial and highly rewarding venture. This paper therefore, carefully examines the "inherent challenges of hosting a befitting U GA games and its fundamental parallels to sports development and talent identifications amongst Nigeria Universities". Quantitative research method was adopted using historical perspective of the Nigerian University Games Association. Descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentages was used to analyse the demographic data of participating, institutions, starting with junior students sports talents identification via operation catch them young from the secondary schools ages. Inferential statistics of multiple regressions was used in testing the stated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the findings reveal that all hypotheses were rejected. Furthermore, finding shows a significant relationship between secondary school sports talents identification and university sports development generally in both national and international level. The researchers, therefore, concluded that hosting a befitting NUGA games is not without some inherent challenges and that for any hosting university to succeed, the following fundamental parallels must not be ignored.
