dc.description.abstract | The study focused on principals' leadership role performance in terms of managerial abilities and interpersonal relationship capabilities in Delta State private and public secondary schools. Two hypotheses were postulated and tested for the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study and the study population comprised all the teachers in private and public secondary schools in the 25 Local Couernment Areas in Delta State. Through multi-stage sampling which involved the cluster, stratified and simple random techniques 1,112 teachers were selected as sample form 120 secondanj schools (60 private and 60 public) for the study. Data were collected through an instrument titled: "Principals' Leadership Role Performance Questionnaire (PLRPQ)" which was a Likert-type instrument with response patterns ranging from Always (A), Often (0), Seldom (5), to Never (N). Hypotheses testing was done with the use of Hest at 0.05 level of significance. The study found out that Principals' interpersonal relationship capabilities were different in private and public secondary schools in Delta State. It also showed a significant difference in principals' managerial abilities in private and public secondary schools in Delta State. Based on the findings, recommendations were made which include objective selection of School Principals based on managerial competence and professional expertise. | en_US |
