dc.description.abstractThe research work examined the influence of new technologies on science teaching and learning on the academic performance of students in Secondary Schools. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. The population of the study consists of all science students in Senior Secondary. schools in Education District IV of Lagos State. The sample the study consisted of two hundred (200) students comprising males and females selected through stratified random sampling technique. The instruments used for data collection was a self-developed questionnaire (INTSTLAPSSSQ) and Biology Achievement Test (BAT). The questionnaire has a reliability coefficient of O.76 when tested during the pilot study. Four research questions and four corresponding hypotheses were tested in the study while all the hypotheses were rejected at 0.05 -level of significance. The result of the data analysis revealed that: there is a significant influence of the use of new technologies 'on the teaching/learning of- science; on the academic performance of students in science; and qualities of Information Communication Technology (ICT) devices on the teaching/learning of science. The study also showed that there is a significant relationship between the utilization of new technologies and the learning behaviour of science students. Based on the findings, the study recommended among others that teachers should be equipped with skills and knowledge which they need to use new technological tools in teaching science among students’ of secondary school level.en_US
