The relationship between inter-spousal intimacy and the tendency to suspect partners of sexual infidelity is analysed using data from Lagos and Freetown. The relationship between the practice of extramarital sex and the same set of intimacy variables is also analysed. The particular circumstances of the two cities may have affected the relevance of the intimacy variables in explaining the variations in the incidence of extramarital sex.en_US
