dc.description.abstractThe study investigated the effect of leg resistance exercises on the jumping ability of female volleyball players. The participants were twelve apparently healthy females of our lady of Apostles Secondary School, Lagos. Their ages ranged from 14-17 years. They were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. Data were collected on the leg resistance exercises (vertical jump) test. One hypothesis was tented at 0.05, level of significance. Mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance were used to analyse the data. There was a significant difference in the vertical jumping ability of the participants in the experimental and control groups, (Fi, 8=10.35, P < 0.05). Multiple classification Analysis result on the effect of leg resistance exercises on jumping ability of the participants showed that the participants in the experimental group had higher adjusted mean score of 2.16 on vertical jump test compared with their counterparts in the control group, 2.13. Resistance exercises accounted for about 99% increase in the vertical jumping ability of the participants. It was concluded that leg resistance exercises increased the jumping ability of volleyball players. It was recommended that volleyball players should participate in leg resistance exercises (20-30) minutes three times in a week for enhancing the muscular strength and leg power of the participants.en_US
