An Inaugural lecture is often described as a crucial rite of passage and it provides a Professor with a unique opportunity to introduce their field of expertise and share academic and professional achievements and current and future research plans with members of the University community, colleagues, family and friends, students and the general public. The Professor is considered a debtor until this obligation is fulfilled. Today's lecture is being delivered by the first female Professor of Gastroenterology in the history of the University of Lagos.
