dc.description.abstract | The paper examined reengineering teacher education in Nigeria towards greater productivity in primary education sector. A cursory look at the standard or quality of education obtainable at our primary education level nowadays clearly shows the level of albatross around the neck of our educational system particularly the teacher education in Nigeria. The paper carefully x-rayed the multifarious illnesses associated with teacher education in Nigeria, the implication of this is harshly felt at the primary and secondary education levels, thereby resulting to poor academic standard at these all important levels of our educational system. These social mal ices in our teacher education system have not only affected the primary and secondary levels of our educational system but have also hampered our individual and collective productivity as well as our national growth and development. Therefore, the need to urgently get rid of this sickness is highly imperative. The paper further recommended some revolutionary approaches that could be adopted by all and sundry in order to guarantee quality at all levels, greater productivity in primary education sector, and stable national growth and development. | |
