dc.description.abstract | The study examined the effect of learning-mode on the psychomotor achievement of automobile technology students in the technical colleges. A quasi experimental factorial pretest-posttest design with an experimental and non equivalent control group was adopted. The population for the study consisted of 580 Automobile Technology students in nine Technical colleges in Qgun and Osun states. The sample comprised 96 technical year two students drawn from three intact classes through random sampling method. The three instruments used for the data collection are: Cooperative learning-mode lesson plan, Conventional lesson plan and the Learning-mode Psychomotor Achievement Test (LPAT). These were constructed by the researcher and validated by three experts. Two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated, mean and standard deviation were used in analysing the data for the research questions while Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used in testing the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. It was found out that, students taught in a cooperative learning-mode laboratory had a higher mean score than those taught with the conventional learning-modes. The study also revealed that the cooperative learning modes indicates a significant difference on the psychomotor achievement posttests. It was recommended that; students should work in cooperative learning-mode at laboratory stations and the laboratory grade be based on assessment of psychomotor achievement for life-long learning. | |
