This study examined gender representation in the teaching of PES and factors that explain the representation of women in these professions in Nigeria. Data for this study was collected through the administration of oral interview during NUGA Games, 2004 that was held at the University of Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria. While participants at the ICPE conference held in Hong Kong, 2004 were also interviewed. Result showed that male dominated the teaching of P.E. due to deep-rooted cultural and social beliefs. This finding is contrary to what is currently obtainable in the United States of America where more women are involved in the teaching of PES due to governmental laws on discrimination. The implication of this finding points to the need for new strategies to be adopted in the teaching of quality Physical Education and Sports in Nigeria.en_US
