Demographic data such as drivers' age, years of driving experience and nature of driving were put into consideration. Four hypotheses were formulated to guide the study and tested using chi-square and t-test statistical tools at 0.05 level of significance. The research findings revealed that driver's experience, and personality has no significant influence in averting road accidents among others. Based on the findings, it was therefore recommended among others, that the FRSC and other related agencies should intensify their efforts in organizing public enlightening programmes so as to orientate and re-orientate the drivers especially the commercial drivers on the benefits of adhering to the road traffic regulation as stated in the Highway Code. There is also the need for traffic officers to ensure strict compliance to driving rules and traffic signs by drivers and the enforcement of the rules to avert road accidents.en_US
