| dc.description.abstract | “SO DEADLY, SO PREVENTABLE” … part of the title of my inaugural lecture is a slogan on a flyer I posted on the door of my office more than 10 years ago. I never knew it would become part of the title of my Inaugural Lecture. My duty as an obstetrician and gynaecologist is to take care of pregnancy, childbirth, and diseases of the female reproductive system, including infections and cancers. One part of the reproductive system that has fascinated me so much and on which I have concentrated most of my studies and research is the CERVIX UTERINE. It is a part of the uterus (womb) and has many other names, such as the mouth of the womb, neck of the womb and passage of the womb. | |
