dc.description.abstractThe study identified circuit strength training programme as expedient, to the treatment of hypokinetic conditions and its effects on body composition (percent body fat, muscle, mass) of college students. Randomized pretest post-test, control group research design was adopted far the study. The participants were 42 male and female College, of Education students in Ikere-Ekiti. Stratified random sampling technique was used to assign the participants to experimental and control groups. The experimental group was treated with the circuit training programme. Pretest and post test data were collected on body weight, skinfold and body girths of participants using bathroom weighing scale, stop watch, skin/old calipers and anthropometric tape. A 12 - week intervention programme, consisting of strength training exercises, lasting 40 minutes, performed three times a week, was employed. Two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Mean, standard deviation and t&st were used to analyse the data. There was no significant difference in the percent body fat of the experimental and control groups while that of muscle mass was significant. Physical education programmes consisting of strength training exercises be effectively utilised to improve physical health of college students.en_US
