dc.description.abstract | In Nigeria, unemployment is a serious problem; posing more challenges to workforce and manpower need of the nation. Technical Vocational Education and Training (I'VET) institutions (hat responsible for their training to develop and improve workforce ' well being. Therefore, the study was designed to investigate how TVET can improve well being of workforce and economic development through employment creation; it determines role of TVET institutions in employment creation, factors that influence workforce I health and means of reducing the factors that challenges workforce 's well being. The study was conducted in 12 randomly selected construction industries in Lagos State. A descriptive survey research design was used. Data collection methods included closed and open-ended questionnaires. The 'workers that participated in filling the questionnaires were selected by random sampling. Analysis through the use of SPSS computer programme was carried out on the responses of 75 respondents who returned the questionnaires. The findings showed that workers experience stress when confronted with a continuing set of demands that reduce their ability to junction in the areas of working long hours under difficult circumstances, economic hardship, unemployment, poverty and undermine health. The paper concludes by recommending that employers and workers should seek a work environment that provides a healthy degree of autonomy and control without sacrificing social supports and TVET institutions should develop in youth skills for self employment and safety habits. | en_US |
