Abstract
This study investigated the relative effectiveness of Transactional Analysis Therapy in promoting social competence among Secondary School were one hundred and fifty Senior secondary in year two from three randomly selected
schools from three Local Government Councils of Lagos State formed the sample of this study. District six of Lagos State of of Nigeria was used. There were two experimental treatment groups and one control group. Data was collected using the Adolescent Personal and Family Scale and the Social competence Scale.
were tested using Analysis of covaiance (ANCOVA). There was no significant difference in the social competence of participants due to intervention. Significant improvement in social competence of experimental groups and the control group that received no treatment. The difference in the post-test social competence in tie treatment and control groups
Based on Life-skills Therapy, Social competence and Transactional Analysis Therapy were explained and the counselling implications discussed.
