dc.description.abstract | Physical Education (PE) in Nigeria has gone through a process of gradual development from precolonial to post-colonial eras. Each phase recorded specific achievements that evolved into the current best practices in the delivery of equality PE programs. National organisation aligned with governmental policy on education the provision of standard for quality PE featured in each. The oral interview was the major instrument used to collect data and records were also assessed. The chapter therefore present the historical background of education in Nigeria, the wellness level of children and youth, the current pattern of PE, the evolution of unique curricular model and community-based physical activity programme in Nigeria such as National Family Dance, Street Soccer, Adopt-a-Talent, School Sports, and Walk for Life. The future prospect of the curriculum models is also highlighted. | en_US |
