The research work examined peer pressure influence as determinant of social behaviour among undergraduate students of the University of Lagos .. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. The population of the study includes all undergraduate students of University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos. The sample of the study consisted of two hundred (200) undergraduates randomly selected through stratified sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was a self-developed questionnaire titled "Peer Pressure and Social Behaviour Questionnaire (PPSBQ)". The questionnaire has a reliability coefficient of 0.83 when tested during the pilot study. Four hypotheses were tested in the study while all the hypotheses were rejected at 0.05 level of .significance. The results of data analysis revealed that: there is a significant influence of peer acceptance and peer mentoring on social behaviour of undergraduate students. The study also revealed that age difference and gender difference in peer pressure significantly influences social behaviour of undergraduate students. Based on these findings, the following recommendations were made: parents should serve as role models for their children to emulate; parents should be watchful of the types of friends kept by their children; and parent-child relationship should be cordial enough to permit the children in discussing their problems with them. In addition, the management of student) should be the joint responsibility of parents, guidance counsellors, school administrators and society at large.en_US
