dc.description.abstractThe paper examines the need to empower women in and for science and technology education with a view of opening up avenues for more women to labour for development and enjoy the fruits of development at family, community, society and at the third world levels. However, empowering entails the possession of good working memory(WM) ability as the base-line for participating in science and technology education.' Central to this paper is a study that reveals no significant difference in the WM ability ofmale and femal chemistry learners in Nigeria secondary schools. The paper presents arguments that the bio- and chemo- technology at the informal education sector where the majority of women is found, should be studied for the purpose of scientific theories derivations for the school system. It also posits the need to integrate the formal and informal technological practices and considers this as a major Instrumentatton for science education for human development. It, however, highlights major crucial interventions by women, for regional cooperations and in women to bring about human development.en_US
