dc.description.abstract | The paper posits that the informal sector has emerged as a dynamic and vibrant sector of the Nigerian economy. Women are very invisible in informal business activities. It is evident that women activities in this sector are very critical for employment, income and survival of tlheir families (nuclear and extended). Hence, the need has arisen for appropriate development strategies that would impart more vitality and growth-impetus to the sector to enable it contribute its mite fully to the real sector of the economy. This paper examines key issues on women's involvement in the informal enterprises. It submits that policy interventions aimed at addressing the problems of industrial underdevelopment and poor financing of the small enterprise sector are absolutely critical but argues that strategic policies and projects aimed at enhancing women's productivity and incomes opportunities in the microenterprise 'informal' sector is very important. | en_US |
