Abstract
This study focused on the effects of management information system on total quality management in schools. A descriptive survey design was adopted. All secondary school teachers in four local government areas of Lagos State constituted the study population. The questionnaire was administered to 1,000 teachers in 100 sampled secondary schools. The study was guided by two research questions. Data analysis was done using the appropriate correlation statistics. The findings revealed a significant relationship between information and management. Information contributed 28.06% of the total effects of variables on school management. Further finding revealed a significant relationship between management information system (MIS) and total quality management in schools. Specifically, MIS contributed 27.52% of the total effect of variables on quality and was observed to be essential and inextricably linked to total good quality management in schools. It was recommended that school administrators should endeavor to evaluate the information they received on four factors, namely; quality, quantity, timeliness and relevance to management.
