dc.description.abstractIn recent years, collaborative learning method has attracted the attention of many educators, representing an alternative to the traditional learning methods. There is need to examine the impact of collaborative learning on students' academic achievement in Basic technology. This study was structured to critically examine the impact of collaborative learning on the academic achievement of students in Basic technology. This research work consists of four research questions and two hypotheses while quasi-experimental research design was adopted and Basic technology achievement test was administered to the students. 150 students were selected from five schools in the educational district II in Lagos State. The data were analyzed with the aid of percentages and t-test statistical tool. The findings of the studies showed that there is significant difference in the academic achievement of students who are exposed to collaborative learning on the arithmetic skills of students in Basic technology. In addition, there is no significant relationship in the effectiveness of collaborative learning on Students achievement in Basic Technology based on gender. It is recommended that secondary school teachers should adopt collaborative learning method in their teaching-learning strategies to improve the academic achievement of the students.
