The study investigated the effect of strength training programme on the static balance of male and female adolescents in the experimental and control groups. The participants were sixty nine Junior Secondary School Students of Russell International Group of Schools, Benin City, Nigeria. Age ranged from 11-16 years. Random Sampling technique -was used in selecting the participants. Informed consent forms -were given to the participants. The participants in the experimental group were subjected to strength training exercises lasting thirty minutes, performed three times a 'week, while those in the control group did not undergo any training programme. Data were collected on the static balance test on experimental and control groups with eyes closed and eyes opened. The data collected was analysed with descriptive and inferential Statistics of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). There -was significant difference in the static balance of the male and female adolescents in" the experimental and control groups (F3,65=2.75,P<0.05). To ascertain where the significant differences occur, Scheffe post hoc analysis was used. It was found that significant differences existed between Experimental females and control females, experimental females and control males. Between control females and experimental males. Between experimental males and control males, while insignificant differences existed between experimental females and experimental males, between control females and control males. It is concluded that strength training exercises have effect on the static balance of male and female adolescents. It is recommended that adolescents should take part in strength training programme, two to three times a week to promote their static balance.en_US
