The main objective of this presentation is to critically examine the desirability of adopting the Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology for university education in electrical engineering in Nigerian universities. The paper begins with a succinct description of the characteristic features of PBL, and using an example in electrostatics as candidate, describes how the method may be utilized for a typical degree level course in electrical engineering. A number of issues that should be addressed before venturing to adopt the method are identified, and the position is taken in the concluding part of the presentation, that PBL appears to offer enough promise to warrant its being adopted for degree level training in electrical engineering in the developing economy characteristic of the Nigerian environment.en_US
