dc.description.abstract | Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in the world, with 382 million people affected worldwide. The management of this condition has focused more on drug management with only recent efforts being placed on physical activity and diet. Diet has been an area where discordant recommendations have been made especially in Nigeria. Knowledge of glycaemic indices and glycaemic load of locally available food will make it easier for doctors, dietician and patients to have a good well balanced diet. | en_US |
