Abstract
2023 Year in Review
I am extremely excited to present the 2023 Library Annual Report. I love putting together this report annually as it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the work the library has done in the year. It is also a chance to compare the goals set as the start of the year with what we have achieved.
This year, the library made the shift of creating student-driven collaborative reading and learning spaces. We now have spaces with comfy couches and chairs with long open tables for relaxed and leisure reading, a coffee station, pod seats for private and focused reading at he extreme end of the library lobby and the makerspace to inspire students to study, collaborate and discover. The remodeled library project sponsored by Alpha Morgan Capital Investment was commissioned on 14th November, 2023. Our buildings and collections [print and digital] have opened up new ideas and new discoveries for our numerous users. In all. I love that the library statistics for registration, usage and loan have increased as a result of the transformation and innovations introduced to meet the yearnings of our users.
In this annual report, you will also read stories about the second edition of our social inclusion event tagged "Library Lover's Day" held at the library quadrangle on the 14th of February 2023. Because we cherish and appreciate the patronage of our students, staff and external users, we shall continue to serve you selflessly, as meeting your information, academic and research needs is our priority. We would never compromise on this; be assured!
We however look forward to conversations that would enhance the sustainability future of the library spaces, physical and digital environments, to help shape the University of Lagos Library for the present and future generations.
