dc.description.abstract | Fine and Applied Art after literature forms a lasting mental picture in the minds of all decernining men. The role played by painters, cartoonists, sculptors in the cultural life of France can best be illustrated by the surprise cultural immersion test the French foisted on some Nigerian students on compulsory year abroad at the universite de Dakar in September 1972. They expected us, Nigerians to have an encylopaedic knowledge of French writers, painters, sculptors, musicians etc from the Middle Ages to the 'year 2000. This is why this work devoted to Nigerian Fine and Applied artists is an academic imperative for our Nigerian art lovers and artisits. | |
