Abstract
This article presents the processes, prospects and challenges of setting up this data system with the aim of assisting other countries that share similar health system characteristics with Nigeria to assess their burden of maternal death and disabilities, and identify gaps that can be addressed to meet the targets of the third sustainable development goal.
