The growing challenge of insecurity in Nigeria is of concern to all and every effort must be employed to combat this challenge. It is disheartening that many third world nations quest for progress is being threatened by diverse security a challenge which includes religious crises, political upheavals, insurgency, armed-robbery, kidnapping and the likes which are majorly perpetrated by mostly youths. It is in line with this that this study was carried out to evaluate continuous assessment (CA) and academic performance of Adolescents within Lagos Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State: Educational Security Implication. Descriptive survey research design was used. A sample of one hundred and forty (140) senior secondary two (2) students was randomly selected through simple random sampling technique within the study area. Two research instruments were used. They are a RCAAAP questionnaire and a Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) .The Cronbach’s reliability coefficient for the questionnaire was 0.854, while the Spearman Brown Reliability Coefficient for Mathematics Achievement Test 0.796. The empirical findings revealed that teachers’ use of CA and their frequencies on the use of CA significantly impacts on the academic performance of adolescents in Mathematics. Also, it was found that teachers’ use of continuous assessment does not significantly impacts on adolescents academic performance in Mathematics based on age group. Based on the findings, educational security implications of the findings were discussed and some recommendations were made. The study hence recommended among others that school teachers should attend regular appraisal workshops and capacity building training that will update them with the skills of instrument construction and the development of pools of items to assess the attainment of their students at all times for effective performance in carrying out CA on their students and that Nigerian government should ensure that they provide monitoring programme, adequate financial support and materials needed in schools towards the realization of the set down objectives .This will aid in building , human capacity militate against drop-out syndrome in our schools and can help minimize security challenges in the country.en_US
