This paper is focused on the influence of awareness levels and usability patterns of YouTube videos on the University of Lagos undergraduates' interest in chemistry. The influence of the course of study on undergraduates' interest in chemistry was also examined. A research question and three hypotheses guided the study. The study made use of quantitative survey research design which involved 180 samples. Three research instruments guided the study , which include: Awareness Levels of YouTube Videos Statements (ALYS); Usability Patterns of YouTube Videos Statements (UPYS) and Interest in Chemistry Scale (ICS). The instruments were validated and the reliability indices values obtained were 0.792,0.838 and 0.944 for ALYS, UPYS, and ICS respectively. Data collected were analyzed using correlation coefficient and Chi-Square analyses. The results revealed that chemistry undergraduates have a favourable interest at medium awareness levels on YouTube videos. The medium awareness level of YouTube videos on undergraduates has led to a positive interest in chemistry. The results also show 'Never' usability pattern of YouTube videos on undergraduates' interest in chemistry. This 'Never' usability pattern of YouTube videos has caused negative interest among the undergraduates in chemistry. In addition, the course of study did not have any influence on undergraduates' interest in chemistry. The paper concludes that it is imperative to create awareness among the university undergraduates on effective ways of using YouTube videos to foster independent learning in chemistry, thereby contributing to the development of an individual's multimedia literacy, boosting interest, enhancing cognitive memory of students and skills acquisition. It hereby recommends that universities should provide internet facilities to ensure that instructors and students have, regular power supply for easy access to YouTube videos. This would enhance usability patterns of YouTube videos which in turn enhances achievement and interest in undergraduates' courses of study.en_US
