Abstract
The study investigated the effects of environmental noise pollution on the physical health, psychological health and work performance of individuals as well as its effects on the society. Descriptive research survey was used for the study, four hundred and sixty male and female adults used for study were randomly sampled from Lagos Metropolis. A self-constructed questionnaire was used to collect responses front the respondents. The data was analysed using percentage while chi-square (x2) was used to test the hypothesis. The result of the study revealed that environmental noise pollution poses challenges on the physical and psychological, health of people, also it leads to poor work performance and causes social problems in the society. The following recommendations were made based on the findings: environmental health education should be included in primary and secondary schools’ curriculum while at tertiary institutions it should be made a compulsory course for all the students, the society should be educated on the negative effects of noise to people and the society wellbeing, the government should put in place the enabling law on noise pollution and individual and organisations that defile the regulations should be prosecuted.
