dc.description.abstractThe study is carried out to determine the effectiveness of body mass index and waist-to-hip ratio as techniques of determining potential risk for disease in adult men and women. Pretest-posttest control group research design was adopted for the study. The participants were 42 male and 45 female college of education students Ikere-Ekiti. Ikere-Ekiti, who were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group was treated with resistant exercises. Pretest and posttest data were collected on body weight, stature, waist girth and gluteal girth of participants using calibrated wall, weighing scale and anthropometric tape. A 22-week intervention programme consisting of resistance exercises lasting 40 minutes performed three times a week was employed. The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance Mean, standard deviation and t-test were used to analyse the data. Significant difference was found in the t\vo instruments with weak association. Effectiveness of other techniques of determining potential risk for disease in adult men and women be examined.en_US
