Enormous waste generated from quarry sites require disposal and acute shortage of dumping sites necessitated the need to conduct an investigation into the possibility of recycling these waste materials for use in the construction industry leading to cleaner environment. The current study investigates the characteristics of concrete containing quarry waste as partial replacement of fine aggregates up to 40% by weight. The properties investigated are the workability and strength development characteristics of the concrete specimens in addition to characterization of the materials properties. Results revealed that the compressive strength at days 7, 14, 21 and 28 curing age were 6.92 N/mm², 8.63 N/mm², 14.33N/mm² and 17.27N/mm² respectively. The study revealed 13.62% increase in strength over the control mix (0% quarry waste) which had strength of 15.20 N/mm² at 28 day. Quarry waste not exceeding 20% is therefore recommended in concrete.en_US
