dc.description.abstract | INTRODUCTION Management of any medical condition starts with obtaining a good history, performing careful physical examination, generating differential diagnoses, and confirming a definitive diagnosis through appropriate clinical and laboratory investigations. Management of diabetes mellitus (DM), a common noncommunicable disease (NCD), follows this same pattern. However, the management of diabetes in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing countries has some peculiarities that will be highlighted in this chapter, using Nigeria and other countries as reference points. | en_US |
