dc.description.abstractDrug adherence among tuberculosis patients has been identified as a major problem militating against the recovery of most tuberculosis (TB) patients all over the world. Factors found in the literature to be responsible for lack of adherence among TB patients, have not been empirically established Lagos State where there are a lot of patients. This study was therefore conducted to establish the factors influencing drug adherence among tuberculosis patients in Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study: One hundred and fifty (N=150) TB patients participated in this study. The research instrument used was a researcher-developed, reliable (r -0.78) and validated questionnaire. Data analysis was done with the usage of descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentages and inferential statistics of Chi-square to test the stated hypotheses at 0.05 alpha levels. It was found that family support, the cost of drugs, the attitude of health workers, duration of drug regimen and availability and accessibility of drugs, significantly influenced drug adherence among TB patients in L State. It was, therefore, recommended that Government, health care workers, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders in health should ensure that patients adhere strictly to treatment and medications. It can be done by making sure that drugs are made accessible, available and affordable to tuberculosis patientsen_US
