dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the available resources for technical teachers’ training and skill acquisition for effective facilities utilization in teaching and learning of electrical and electronics technology. This study adopted a descriptive survey design. A sample of 100 respondents comprising 50 final year students were randomly selected from two tertiary institutions in Ogun State. A structured questionnaire validated with Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of 0.82 was used for data collection. Four research questions and four hypotheses guided the study. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of Mean with Standard Deviation, percentage and an inferential statistics of regression and t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The research findings revealed that in the university 87.5% of the required facilities was available for the training and the same percentage was inadequate in supply while in the college, 77.5% was available but 82.5% was inadequate in supply. It also revealed significant effect of available facilities on technical teachers skill acquisition (F=68.847, P:0.05) and with total average mean of 3.37, the available workshop facilities were well utilized for technical teachers training programme. Based on the findings, it is recommended that strict compliance to an facility and equipment provision for effective training programme in vocational and technical education be adhered to in order to further improve the quality of teachers training and enrich the products of the programme.
