dc.description.abstractEvery examiner or individual using test scores should be confident that the scores obtained by a test taker is a true indication of that person’s level of knowledge or ability on the construct of interest with a proper guide against factors that can lead to score invalidity. It is in line with this premise that this study examined the influence of test item compromise and test item practice of achievement in computer studies among adolescents in Education District III of Lagos State. Quasi-experimental research design was adopted for the study. The target population of the study was all senior secondary school two students in Education District III of Lagos State. A multi-stage sampling technique was used for the selection of one hundred and eighty senior secondary school two students used for the study.. The instruments used for data collection were Computer Achievement Test (CAT) and a questionnaire titled “Influence of Test Item Compromise and Practice Questionnaire (ITCPQ). The instruments have a reliability of 0.82 for the questionnaires and 0.785 for the Computer studies Achievement Test when tested during the pilot study. Three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance to guide the study. Findings from the study revealed among others that test compromise and test practice have a significant influence on achievement in computer studies among adolescents in Education District III of Lagos. Based on the findings, it was recommended that test items should be monitored to ensure test items has not gone through any significant changes in an item pool due to item exposure. Secondly security of tests should be considered vital before and during test administration process.en_US
