- ItemOpen AccessAvailability and Use of Electronic Resources: a Survey of Olabisi Onabanjo University Librarians(2012-07) Durodolu, O.O; Lawal, O.W; Adebayo, O.KInformation resource availability and utilization is very crucial to any level of academic pursuit. Without an adequate resource base not much could be achieved within the educational system. It is an established fact that, apart from quality human resources, another factor that contributes immensely to the quality of education at any level is the quality, quantity and variety of educational resources available. The Olabisi Onabanjo University Library contains information sources of various kinds, in addition to conducive accommodation for library users. As a result of developments in Information Technology, which have seen the application of computer and modern-day technologies to information handling. The study is a descriptive survey. Questionnaire was designed based on the hypotheses of the study and administered to all librarians and library officers of Olabisi Onabanjo University during the period of the research. Olabisi Onabanjo University was purposively chosen for the study, being considered as one of the first generation state-owned universities in Nigeria. The University has one of the largest populations among state-owned universities in Nigeria. The instrument used to gather data was questionnaire, with structured and open- and close-ended questions.
- ItemOpen AccessEvaluating the Effectiveness of University of lagos Library Information Services Using Servqual Model(Medium Publishing Company and Educational Consult in Collaboration with Options Books Ibadan, 2012-06) Adebayo, A; Adebayo, O.KThis study measures users' perceptions of service quality in the University of Lagos library using SERVQUAL instrument. All jive dimensions of service quality, being tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, were used. The questionnaire survey was conducted within one-week period. All users who came to the library during the research period were asked to complete copies of the questionnaire. The data were analysed using simple percentages and chart. The result of this study revealed that there were serious service gaps, lack of empathy when dealing with users of the library, lack of good understanding of users' needs that the library administrations will need to resolve. It is hoped that the findings will also help the management establish a total quality management (TQM) programme to improve overall service quality to its users.
- ItemOpen AccessInformation Needs and Utilization of SMEs in a Competitive Economy in Lagos State.(Medium Publishing Company and Educational Consult in Collaboration with Options Books Ibadan, 2011-09) Adebayo, O.KThis study sought to establish the entrepreneurs' information needs and utilization on one hand, and the influence of each of these on organizational productivity on the other hand in twelve selected local government councils of Lagos State. Self administered questionnaire was used together data from 236 entrepreneurs from 12 Local Government areas in Lagos State. The findings from this paper enumerate the need for accurate and timely information, proper information utilization and effective communication in the organization. As part of the paper recommendations, entrepreneurs were encouraged to be concerned with dissemination of information, and to create more relationship between communication process and employees' productivity so as to enhance organizational productivity.

Quality in the library can only be assured if the users are satisfied with the services received from the library staff. The challenges faced by library in meeting users need in this technology age must be met in order to ensure quality. Measuring human activities that have value and maintaining it is required of all services rendered in the library in order to provide confidence in such service and in the users. There are both external and internal challenges faced by the library in ensuring quality, these ranges from the physical structure to selection of information materials and to the end user. If these are properly handled, quality will be assured.
- ItemOpen AccessRole of Library in Information Provision for the Domestic Violence Victims(Nigerian Library Association,Ekiti State Chapter, 2013) Adebayo, O.KDomestic violence has been a recurring phenomenon in the society from the time immemorial. Adding salt on the injuries of the victims is the fact that it seemingly looks as if there is no way out of this doldrums. This paper therefore, examines the role of library for the victims of domestic violence. Questionnaires were administered on 30 victims of domestic violence and the findings are revealing. The causes of domestic violence mid the desire to be enlightened and find succour for the victims were parts of the findings.
- ItemOpen AccessRole of SMEs as Tools in a Competitive Economy for the National Industralization Development in Nigeria(2011-09) Adebayo, O.K; Ajayi, T.BSmall and Medium-scale Enterprises' - SMEs - contributions have been significant in the industrial and economic growth of the globe. For instance in Nigeria, SMEs provide 70% of the industrial employment and 60% of agricultural sector employment. Despite the vital contribution of SMEs to economic development, the potentials of SME have not been fully exploited. The primary objective of this study therefore, is to determine the roles of SME in national development and the forces that are militating against its survival in Nigeria. The study employed a survey design and used questionnaire to collect data. The population of the study was made up of 236 respondents in twelve local government councils out of twenty local government councils in Lagos State. The findings reveal that the importance of SMEs to the development of any nation is of high magnitude; that government does not attach much importance to the existence of SMEs; and that information has become the fifth factor of production for SMEs. The paper recommends conducive environment and support from the government to make SME take its proper place in the economy of the world,' and that business and business person should be dichotomized, while free access to information and technology must not be compromised.
- ItemOpen AccessUsing Virtual Collaborations System to enhance Operational Performance of Academic Staff in University of Lagos(The Faculty of Education, the University of Lagos, Akoka., 2013-01) Adebayo, A; Adebayo, O.KThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of virtual collaboration systems at enhancing operational performance in University of Lagos. The study adopted a web-based survey using an online questionnaire that used a combination of closed-ended and open-ended questions. The population comprised all the academic staff of the university. The researcher validated the online survey by testing it with five members of the target population in a pilot survey that was carried out as part of the survey design. Feedback received from the pilot survey was used to correct unnoticed errors and ambiguities in survey. The results revealed operational performance problems in the university arising from inadequate information processing and appropriation support. Suggestions for solving the identified problems were proffered.
