This is traceable to the incidence of high unemployment rate in the country in the face of increasing population growth and graduate turnout. Therefore, a mindset for entrepreneurship by potential graduates in Nigeria is pivotal to the alleviation of poverty in Nigeria. This study sought to assess the preparedness of potential university graduates against job disappointment after graduation. The study examined the possession of an entrepreneurial mindset by potential university graduates in Nigeria as a strategy for alleviation of poverty in the country. Final year students of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, Nigeria were used as the case study for the research. The study is based on the Vicious circle theory. Simple random sampling technique was adopted with the aid of a carefully constructed questionnaire. A total of 132 responses were collected and analysed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that the students were not prepared for life after school and indicated gross indecision on whether or not they want to become entrepreneurs. The students according to the findings of the study were practically indecisive about many things and most of them were indifferent about the economic state of their families. There is the need to encourage forward-thinking among university students in Nigeria especially with respect to their role in the fight against the vicious cycle of poverty in the nation.
