A.; Adebakin, A. B.This paper examined the impact of the existing funding culture in higher education on quality of output in Nigeria. It revealed that budgetary restriction had posed a number of challenges in the Nigerian universities The paper identified three sources of fund to public universities in Nigeria namely; the federal government (84%), income generation activities (7%) and various student fees (9%). This shows that under-funding has remained the bane of the Nigerian university system. It concluded that there is the need for improved funding pattern; resourcing of the supervisory agencies such as National Universities Commission. National Board for Technical Education. and National Commission for Colleges of Education; and enhancement of quality assurance internal and external mechanisms.
