Abstract
Business Education Programme in Nigeria is confronted with numerous challenges and criticisms, particularly in the area ofsupervision, control and management ofthe programme on the job performance ofgraduates. This study looks at the effects ofsupervision control and management on the performance ofBusiness Education Graduates in Southern Nigeria geo political zones. The descriptive survey research design was employed. The population for the study was two thousand and seventy-six respondents. Two research questions with one hypothesis were raised. The sample included 1,479 stakeholders, made up of administrators (n=18), lecturers (n=43), employers (n=546) and students (n=872). They were picked through multi-stage stratified random technique from one (1) senatorial districts and three (3) local government areas of the existing three Southern geo-political zones in Nigeria., Two Instruments, namely Business Education Programme Evaluation Questionnaire (BEPEQ) (r=0.91) and Employer's Assessment on Job Performance ofBusiness Education Graduates Questionnaire (EAJPBEGQ) (r=0.903) were developed by the researcher. Data analyses were carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed among others that 77.5% agreed that there has been adequate supervision, control and management of the programme in institutions; based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that supervision, control and management of Business Education Programme was adequate. However, the following recommendations were made for ensuring supervision, control and management of Business Education as well as job performance of graduates in Nigeria: Quality assurance model developed by various university should be strictly adhered to especially in the area of monitoring and supervising lecturers in the course of discharging their duties. Association of Business Educators in Nigeria should liaise with National University Commission to develop a supervisory and control model that would serve as a benchmark to all lecturers in universities in Nigeria.
