Abstract
The study examined the impact of security spending on insecurity in Nigeria using yearly time-series data from 1980 through 2018, using cointegration techniques. A long-run relationship between insecurity and the macroeconomic selected explanatory variables was found. The error correction model found an inverse weak relationship between insecurity and security spending in Nigeria. The study recommends that policies that enhance the effective utilization of security funds and checkmate its misuse should be enacted.
