Abstract
Technical education has been an instrument by which societies develop their economy through training their technical teachers who prepare the youths in various practical skills. The study is on assessing the roles of colleges of education (technical) in training electrical/electronic students to teach in technical colleges in Lagos state, Nigeria. Three research questions were raised for the study and a survey design was adopted. A structured questionnaire containing 23 items was used for the data collection. The data collected were analyzed usJ~!8 mean. The findings of the study revealed that on-the-job training, use of resource persons, work-study were good training methods. Training materials and equipment are not adequate and the available ones are not used regularly for teaching. It was recommended that lecturers update their pedagogical knowledge through workshops, seminars and conferences.
