Abstract
Students’ Cohorts and Peace Building for Sustainable Development in Higher Educational Institutions in Akoka, Lagos State
Individual differences, preferences and needs among humans in the face of limited resources form the genesis of conflicts in the society. The prevalence of students management conflicts in the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) may not be unconnected with the injustices, inequalities, hostilities, discriminations and absence of well-being in the country. this descriptive survey, guided by six research questions and four hypotheses, explored the potential influence of students' cohorts on their receptivity of peace-building measures for sustainable peaceful development in higher educational institutions in Lagos State. with theoretical standpoint on Inglehart's Intergenerational Value Change Theory (1971) to explain the differences in value systems across generations, the study sampled 420participants using Students’ Cohorts and Peace Building (SCPBQ) to determine among others that, students' cohorts have significant influence on their receptivity of peace-building initiatives in the HEIs should treat students as possible resource persons and/or partners for peace-building and sustainable development/management of functional higher education in Lagos State.
