Abstract
This study was designed to examine the influence of home background on Lagos State technical college students' academic performance. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. A total of 300 respondents were used for the study. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. A test-re-test reliability was used and collected data was analyzed using frequency count, percentage, t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and pair-wise turkey test comparison. All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 significance. Findings of the study revealed that: socio-economic status of the home has a great impact on students' academic performance; poor home environment and single-parent house-hold also affects academic performance of students. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations were made.
