Abstract
The study sought to identify the entrepreneurial skills required by retirees for establishment of small and medium enterprises in auto-electricity in lagos state . Structured questionnaire was the instrument used to collect data from the respondents. The population for this study consisted of 5,690 Civil servants with 25-30years experience in service and Managers of 178 Automobile Establishments that are registered under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries in Lagos State. A random sampling technique was used in selecting 428 respondents used for the study. Data were analyzed through the use of mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that managerial skill, financial skill, marketing skill and communication skill were needed by retirees to facilitate guiding and coordination of workplace. It was therefore recommended that since retirees will need these skills in workplace for effective organisation of an enterprise; Government should provide skill acquisition centres for preparing retirees for retirement, training centres should include the entrepreneurial skills identified by this study in the curriculum of the school, ministries of Education should conduct programmes aimed at improving the teaching of entrepreneurial skills for retirees and highly seminars, workshops and conferences should be organized for civil services. Our the need for entrepreneurial skills for retirement.
