Abstract
The relevance of philosophy of education in the formation of a good educational policy is multifarious . It consists variously in critiqueing societal ideologies which serve as the foundation of any educational system; it consists in relating such ideologies with educational guides (policies); it consists in analyzing terms used in policies; in providing alternatives to policy approaches; in coordinating various inputs into educational policy; in harnessing educational goals and objectives with strategies set up for implementation; in infusing logical rigours (consistency, coherency, comprehensiveness and complementarism) into educationalpolicies; etc. Hardly can any success be achieved in the world of education, and by extension in other realms of life (for education is the pivot for all forms of development), if philosophy is not taken seriously in the formation of educational policy. the author argues that for any nation's education to achieve its best in the society, it has to be directed by sound philosophies.
