light on the role of the "Total Counsellor" who serves as a therapist in Professional counselling. The
skills, competencies, qualities / characteristics and ethical issues in professional counselling were
examined. The total outcome of counselling were based on personal experiences of authors in
certain settings in the country. Conclusions and recommendations were made on how to strengthen
aprofession that does not seem to have been totally accepted in the country.
